WHO: Mount Hollis Lodge

Members of Mount Hollis Lodge comprised largely of Metrowest residents belonging to a society dedicated to the principle of “making good men better” by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, education, and leadership, while creating friendship and understanding between men without regard to nationality, religion, race, background, or opinion.

This is a great opportunity to see the inside of one of Holliston’s historical buildings, learn about some famous people who also were Masons, and see the inside of a Lodge hall.  Have a seat, a tour, or just a conversation.  Be our guest!

WHY:        To Raise Awareness of Who the Freemasons Are and What They Do.

Freemasons trace their history back to the stonemason guilds that built Europe’s cathedrals and castles.  Organized in Massachusetts over 275 years ago, they have been an integral part of our nation’s history.  Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thurgood Marshall, and John Glenn are among the many famous men who joined the organization before achieving the greatness they are recognized for.  Countless other men have made their communities a better place through selfless giving of their time and money.  North American Freemasons donate more than $3,000,000 every day to charity; more than 70% benefiting the general public.

Bro. Ben Wood is at it again!  As if knocking it out of the park with the Hoagie Sale wasn’t enough, he has selflessly put forth another occasion:  Sunday breakfast at the Lodge, Sunday 2/28/2010 starting at 8:00am.  Bring your friends and your appetites, but also please let Ben know in advance how many you’re bringing with you!

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 HOLLISTON, Mass - For the eighteenth straight year, the Freemasons of Mount Hollis Lodge AF&AM have run this event to raise money for local charities.  Run by volunteers committed to the event, the Annual Super Bowl Hoagie Sale has sprung from a bunch of eager men putting together great sub-style sandwiches, to a well-organized effort providing high-value sandwiches while reducing costs which translates to more contributions to charities than in recent years.

Mount Hollis Lodge features among its brethren two extraordinary gentlemen with heavy food services background (Ben Wood and Evan Ewing).  Their annual event as well as numerous smaller offerings keep brethren and the community full and jolly (see here for news link).

With the economy still creeping along, this event has been a key contributor to the local community along with other organizations’ generous contribution.  If you are looking for a great deal on sandwiches for the Super Bowl in 2011, and are in the Holliston area, you will be missing out if you don’t stop by!

June 2009 Notice

The Masons by-and-large spend most of their time planning, organizing and executing functions in, and for the community.  Due to this, our lodge building has not received as much attention as needed.  While all buildings need maintenance generally, we also realize we have neighbors and a community that does not need to see an unsightly building. 

Our work is being performed by volunteers – both members of the lodge, and from the community at-large.  Due to this, the work will take a little longer than most, and we ask your patience and understanding as we perform these repairs.
